PRACTICAL INFORMATION
-
You can dive in Cape Verde all year round.
Its geographic position ensures high temperature and sunshine twelve months a year. Of course, the wind may be strong on some days but it is always possible to dive at protected sites.
-
Visibility is generally good (between 15 and 40 metres).
It changes depending on the location of the diving site and the time of the year. Other contributing factors are currents, tides and waves. The graph below gives you an idea of monthly statistics and periods of the year with best visibility. -
The water temperature varies between 21 and 28 degree depending on the time of the year, as shown on the graph below.
The most recommended all-year diving suit is the full single-piece 5 mm suit. In July, August and September, a 3 mm suit may be enough if you do not feel the cold. -
The sea around our centre has an abundance of fish with an interesting mixture of Mediterranean and tropical species. With over 60 indigenous species, you will see all manner of organisms from small (such as sea slugs) to big (such as bull sharks). You will also have the chance to see numerous banks of coloured fish, moray eels, turtles, stingrays and manta rays.
-
Most dives are organized from our diving boat. We propose all types of dives: shipwreck dives, drift dives, deep slope dives and dives in caves as well as leisurely excursions between formations of coral and rocky plateau.
We also organize dives in the north of the island from the shore and dives with “sea scooters” (DPV Diving Propulsion Vehicle). -
Yes. For insurance and safety reasons but also to allow our customers to feel comfortable when discovering our diving sites, they are always accompanied by an instructor.
-
Our diving groups are formed according to two criteria:
1 – your levels (certificate/diploma level and experience)
2 – your preferences, i.e. the type of dives you want. -
Our instructors speak English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian.
-
Several factors are taken into account, in particular your “previous level,” the time during which you have not dived.
Your safety is our number one priority. From then on, diving must be a fun experience and we know how to adapt to make that possible! -
We have all the necessary diving equipment and gear: masks, snorkels, diving fins (slip-on and adjustable), shoes, 5mm wet suit, shorty 2mm wet suit, regulators, diving computers, diving torches and GoPro photo/video cameras (must be booked in advance). XS to standard XL sizes available. For certain special sizes, contact us to check availability.
Diving tanks are made of steel and are fitted with DIN/INT valves.
We have 15, 12 and 10 liter tanks. Dive tanks, weights and weight belts are included in the diving fee and therefore need not be rented. All our gear and equipment are recent.
-
Of course! We organize “first/initiation dives” in our swimming pool and in the sea to introduce you to diving. Our first dive session will not qualify you as a diver but it is a first step towards future underwater adventures!
-
Sorry! That is not possible. Our insurance policies do not cover divers who are not certified.
However, we can provide “fast-track” training depending on your experience. -
Minimum age: 10 years old and able to swim.
Bring a medical certificate confirming that you are fit to dive and signed by a GP. That is enough.
If you do not have one, you will be able to sign a medical aptitude certificate once you arrive.
If you already have your own equipment and want to use it, that’s not a problem and it will be an opportunity to use it (subject to a prior inspection by our instructors).
We advise you to bring your tablet, smart phone or PC to download your training manual. -
If you have not dived in more than 1 year, it is required that you complete a refresher course which includes a check dive to assess your diving skills level.
Once this is complete, you can continue to dive using your renewed certification.
Your safety is our number one priority while ensuring that you have a fun experience.
